SERVICES

The services performed by the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group [SETVSG] are free of charge and are provided on a non-discriminatory basis.

HONORING THOSE WHO SERVED

Funerals and Memorial Services

The SETVSG may provide final military honors and services at any location that reflects dignity, honor, solemness, and respect for the deceased veteran, the military services, and the SETVSG.  These locations include, but are not limited to, cemeteries, churches, chapels, funeral homes, community centers, parks, event centers, and other locations approved by the SETVSG.

Services that are offered for funeral and memorial services may include posting of colors, reading an obituary, comments concerning the veteran’s military service, three-volley rifle salute, playing “Taps”, folding and/or presentation of the burial flag, providing a brief sermon or appropriate prayer.  In cases where there are no religious officiants involved, with enough notice, one of the SETVSG’s chaplains may attend.

Military honors are provided at the request of the family through their funeral director for deceased veterans who are eligible for final military honors.  Your funeral director will help you in making your request for the SETVSG’s services.

Events or Community Services

Part of the mission of the SETVSG is to promote and support local community functions that reflect positively and patriotically toward our Nation, our communities, our military services, our veterans, and the SETVSG.  These events or services include patriotic displays, ceremonies and/or speeches during Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, and other patriotic celebrations.  The SETVSG may also participate in community functions promoting, honoring, and supporting the United States flag, our Nation, our Veterans, and our military services.

The SETVSG has also participated in ceremonies at community schools, cities, veterans’ groups and organizations, religious organizations, cemeteries, and other entities which were honoring and supporting the military and our veterans, whether deceased or living.
